Let’s continue our talk of savvy Christmas gifts for minute. Here are three more ideas for Christmas gifting that won’t break the bank but will show that special someone they were thought about this Christmas season. That’s really what it’s all about anyway.

It’s not about what you are gifting, it’s about the heart that is doing the gifting. Sometimes the simplest of gifts can make the biggest impact in someone’s life. Now that’s what I call savvy Christmas giving!

Christmas Gift Basket

Ingredients
  

Cinnamon Cookies

  • 1 2/3 cups self-rising flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 stick butter softened
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons water optional
  • 1 cup powered sugar optional

Simmering Potpourri

  • 1 orange
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 lime
  • 3 sprigs rosemary
  • 3 sprigs thyme
  • 1/4 cup cloves

Chai Vanilla Tea

  • 1 box chai vanilla tea or tea of choice
  • 3 cinnamon sticks

Instructions
 

Cinnamon Cookies

  • In mixing bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, sugar, brown sugar, butter and egg to make dough. If dough is too dry to form into ball, add water. Form into log and wrap in parchment paper. Refrigerate 1 hour.
  • Heat oven to 350 F.
  • Roll dough out and cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Place on cookie sheet covered in parchment paper and bake 8-10 minutes. Let cool on rack then dust with powdered sugar, if desired.

Simmering Potpourri

  • Heat oven to 300 F.
  • Slice orange, lemon and lime then place on covered baking sheet. Bake about 45 minutes. Watch to make sure fruit doesn’t burn. Let cool then add to jar with rosemary, thyme and cloves
  • Tie instruction card to jar reading: "Add 2 cups water to potpourri and simmer on stove. Add water as needed."

Chai Vanilla Tea

  • Place tea bags in jar with cinnamon sticks. Tie instruction card to jar reading: Place tea bag in 8 ounces hot water and stir with cinnamon stick. Add sugar and honey to sweeten, if desired.
  • Gift to someone who loves tea!
