Whether you miss that iconic red, white and blue ice pop from your childhood or you have kids of your own who deserve to take a bite of nostalgia, you don’t have to wait for the ice cream truck to drive by any longer.
This homemade version adapted from Southern Living brings back the iconic favorite all from the comfort of the kitchen.
Gather Ingredients
Gather fresh strawberries, raspberries or cherries; blueberries, lemon and lime juice; granulated sugar; heavy cream; and whole-milk yogurt.
Start Cooking
- Process strawberries, sugar and juices until they’re smooth then drain and discard the solids. Put a few tablespoons in each ice pop mold and freeze until firm.
- Stir the yogurt, heavy cream, sugar and more juice before portioning into the ice pop molds. Freeze until firm.
- Process blueberries, sugar and juices until they’re smooth then drain and discard the solids. Just like the strawberry layer, put a few tablespoons into each mold. Insert ice pop sticks into the molds then freeze until firm, which will take around six hours.
When it’s time to cool off after a long day in the sun, remove the ice pops from their molds and enjoy! To keep leftovers fresh, remove them from the molds and store in an airtight freezer bag.
