Let’s talk savvy steaks for a minute. Valentine’s Day is going to be here quicker than a hiccup and you don’t want to be the one trying to figure out something special last minute.

Most people think of chocolate and steak dinners when Valentine’s Day is mentioned, but let’s be real, restaurants can fill up fast, may be crowded and are often costly. You could walk the grocery store aisles and come home with the big heart candy box or lovely wilted flowers. Which are all good, but why be good when, with a plan and a recipe, you could be great?

The plan is a steak dinner at home. There will be no crowds, no bothersome noises and no hefty bill at the end. Pick your steak of choice and pair it with your favorite veggies or a simple salad.

Don’t forget to buy something chocolate; it is Valentine’s Day after all. Now follow this Seared Steak recipe for searing and cooking the perfect steak. Just a few easy steps and you’ll be on your way to that thoughtful steak dinner. Your taste buds and special someone will thank you. Remember, you don’t have to lose on taste to save on money. Seared Steaks

The plan for Valentine's Day is a steak dinner at home. There will be no crowds, no bothersome noises and no hefty bill at the end. Pick your steak of choice and pair it with your favorite veggies or a simple salad.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 steaks preferred cut
  • green beans or vegetable of choice for serving (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In small bowl, mix salt, pepper and smoked paprika then season steaks, front, back and sides. Let sit 30 minutes
  • Preheat oven to 450 F and heat skillet over high heat on stovetop
  • Sear each side of steaks (2 minutes for thicker steaks or 1 minute for thinner steaks)
  • If steaks have fat around edges, sear edges about 1 minute
  • Cook steaks in oven 5 minutes. Let rest 10 minutes then serve with green beans or side salad, if desired
